I wasn't initially sure what to base my Exquisite Corpse Soundscape project on. Once the shared audio file started to get full, I noticed that there were a lot of loud eerie sounds that were produced. One of my favorite movies of all time is The Shawshank Redemption by Frank Darabont. The movie is about Andy Dufrense and his time in prison. There is a part in the movie where Andy Dufrense, the main character, is seen escaping prison through the prison tunnel. The creepy, unpleasant noises in our shared Google Drive folder quickly reminded me of the background noises in this scene. The noises give the viewer a sense of stress and fear as Andy pushes forward into what the audience knows as an uncertain future.
I want the listeners of my Exquites Corpse Soundscape to kinda of relive that sense of horror and fear. I believe that Andy felt isolated and scared as he made his way through the cramped room with the dripping water and distant echoes. To relive this, there are some specific sounds in the google folder that I will possibly be using like breathing, rain, squeaking door, and stomping.
My ultimate goal for this project is to have the listener feel discomfort with unexpected bursts of loud, almost startling noises to suggest panic. I want the listener to feel like he/she is walking through the scene in the movie and make them feel on edge. The composition will rise, as it has to be exactly 4:33 (John Cage), mirroring the tension in the scene from the movie Shawshank Redemption
