The idea of the web venture project 4 prompt reminds me of the Netflix interactive specials. I have always been inspired by anything vintage. Growing up, a core memory for me was playing video games with my brothers. My first video gaming console was a DS. I remember playing games like Mario Kart and old Pokemon.
For this project, I will be making an interactive 8-bit game. This game will allow you to choose two different paths; A gangster and a cop. I came up with this idea because I have recently watched the film "The Departed". This movie is about two Boston cops who choose exact opposite paths. One of the cops, Leonardo Dicaprio, is sent undercover into an Irish mob boss's gang to try and arrest him. The other cop, Matt Damon, is working inside the police station but double-crossing the department by working with the Irish mob boss.
Although there will be no double-crossing in my project, this was the inspiration for my webventure. I will start by having a loading screen with a start button and then having the user choose their character either a gangster or cop. Once selected, it will take you down two different paths. For example, depending on the weapon that the gangster uses, the cop will catch him and arrest him. The cop will also have a choice to either work on the case or pass. When the user chooses an option, the next page will also allow the user to choose between a couple of different paths all with different outcomes.
